This privacy policy explains what data the DigiMuziek AI Spotter Chrome
extension processes, where it goes, and what choices you have. The
extension is provided by Hans Handgraaf (Digimuziek.nl).
1. What the extension does
Digimuziek AI Spotter checks the artist of the song you are listening to
on Spotify Web Player against:
– The DigiMuziek AI artist database (hosted on digimuziek.nl)
– Deezer’s public AI-content flag (hasIdentifiedAIContent)
It shows a notification banner, optionally auto-skips AI tracks, lets you
block an artist on Spotify in one click, and lets you scan whole playlists.
2. Data we process
2a. Data sent to digimuziek.nl
When you play a track on Spotify Web Player, the extension sends the
following to our server at digimuziek.nl:
- The artist name (e.g. “Sarah Brown”)
- The Spotify artist URI (e.g. spotify:artist:xxxxx) when available
- The track title and album title when available
- The standard HTTP request metadata your browser sends (IP address,
User-Agent)
When a track is detected as AI-flagged via Deezer but is not yet in our
database, the extension also submits:
– The artist name, Spotify artist URI, and matching Deezer artist ID,
for review in our admin queue. This is used to grow the database. The
IP address of the submission is stored temporarily for abuse protection
and is automatically removed when the entry is reviewed.
When you use the “Share results” button after a playlist scan, the
extension uploads the full list of tracks (titles, artists, Spotify URIs,
detection result) to digimuziek.nl. A random 8-character share-ID is
returned. Shared playlist results are automatically deleted after 30 days.
2b. Data sent to Spotify
To read the current track, fetch playlist contents, and block an artist,
the extension makes requests to Spotify’s own internal endpoints (the
same ones the Spotify Web Player uses). These requests use the Spotify
session that you are already logged in to.Your Spotify password is
never accessed or stored by the extension.
2c. Data sent to Deezer
The extension does not contact Deezer directly. All Deezer checks are
performed server-side by digimuziek.nl on our behalf.
2d. Data stored locally on your device
- Your auto-skip preference (chrome.storage.local)
- A 30-minute in-memory cache of recent artist check results
- Captured Spotify session tokens, kept in memory only and discarded
when you close the tab. They are never written to disk, never sent
to any third party, and never sent to digimuziek.nl.
3. What we do NOT do
- We do not track your listening history.
- We do not sell or share your data with third parties.
- We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
- We do not store your Spotify login credentials.
- We do not access your Spotify account information beyond what is
needed for the features described above. - We do not transfer data outside the EU (digimuziek.nl is

4. Legal basis (GDPR)
The legal basis for processing artist/track names is legitimate
interest: matching the song you are listening to against our AI database
is the core function of the extension and cannot be provided otherwise.
You consent to this processing by installing and using the extension.
